Excerpt From A Guide To Awareness And Tranquillity

WE MAKE NO DEMANDS

End the attempt to make experience (Awareness in action) conform to the demands of the "Bill" or "Elizabeth"-container-of-Awareness we have believed our Identity to be. There is neither "Bill" nor "Elizabeth" identity outside the belief that they, as the possessors of Life, are who we are. Letting go that belief (to be the Identity we are instead), "things" appear beautifully, perfectly, gloriously! How else should Isness see Isness? How else should perfection appear to Perfection? How else can Health, Sufficiency, Tranquility and Peace appear to the Deific Godhead, "Father" of this very consciousness-I-am?

You see, only the pseudo-identity, the "Bill" or "Elizabeth," sees "things" as fouled up, messed up, mangled and mashed. Only "Bill" and "Elizabeth" see images as separate and apart from themselves, "out there." They live a lonely, limited, lackluster life of lack because they hold themselves in another world, unreal from beginning to end. Holding themselves separate from "things," they hold themselves separate from Reality, which is being "things," and, for them, "religion" is just what the word means-a binding back to God, a prodigal's return from the land of Nod.

Religion seeks to return the possessor of Awareness to that place from which Awareness itself has never departed. By now, we understand that God's own Self-knowledge has never gone awandering, and we are that Self-knowledge! We are God's awareness of Himself. Could anything be more wonderful than to be the knowing of everything Infinity determines to know of Itself?

Listen carefully: If this very instant we completely let go the idea of "me" as image, thing, idea, man, possessor, etc., awareness is still here and being very much aware; consciousness is still going on, right here, right now. We still see mountains and trees. No "thing" has changed. Seeing is still seeing, but it is God's seeing, God's Consciousness of being, God's own Self-knowledge.

Reader, you and I are that Deific awareness itself; God's consciousness of existence is this reader-consciousness of events. God is being this Identity-we-are and is responsible for it. God is being the trees, mountains, rivers, oceans, stars and galaxies. God is being everything this Awareness "sees" and is conscious of in any way whatever.

WE STOP CRINGING BEFORE APPEARANCES

Just because there is no ISNESS in the image does not mean the objects of everyday perception do not exist or are "just a dream going on"; it means there is no value, power or importance in them, no matter what they are, or what they appear to be doing or not doing. It means the bird, the bee, the tree, flower, son and daughter are being just what they are-bird, bee, tree, flower, son and daughter-but there is no power there. The Eternal Value is the basic, primordial ISNESS being those objects of perception. Isness is the power and importance, forever maintaining, sustaining every "thing" as Itself.

This means we can stop the foolish business of attaching values to qualities and attributes that have no value. We can stop worshipping dollar bills and automobiles and making graven images of personal possessions. Furthermore, we can stop cringing before appearances; then, when we're not wasting our time cringing, we know what to do about them!

Chief among the valueless images to which the greatest value is given is the me-judge opinion holder who is the one who attaches the values and worships the valueless. We cease playing the part of that ridiculous identity the instant we stop making judgments, the process by which we arrive at opinions and attach values to the valueless.

Isness is being this Awareness-I-am as surely as it is being the bee, the tree and the thundering sea. This is why "the things I see are the Self I be" and why judgment is always self-judgment. "By what measure ye judge says the One.

ABOUT DEATH

Note this carefully: We do not have to determine what is to be seen, or how it is to be seen, because Awareness has no responsibility in the matter and does not have to go anywhere to see certain sights or hear certain sounds or feel certain feelings. Isness is completely self-sustaining, effortlessly "caring for" this Awareness we are.

This is certain: The Awareness beholding these words will never stop, will never "die," I but will continue beholding the glories of Infinite Being forever, plumbing the depths of God from joy to joy, laughter to laughter, flower to flower, little boy to little boy and little girl to little girl, from evening star to morning star. There is no death of Identity, no end of the Awareness God is being. That Awareness is this eternal Awareness-I-am. Dear Reader, this is the Identity you are, and it is forever!

How do I know? I know because it has been shown to me.
